Welcome:

Kim Kennedy Navarro '83, gave birth to her second daughter Kaitlyn Marie on July 12, 2007,  She joins big sister Kelsey Elizabeth.

 Mike Plocic '83 and his wife welcomed their 4th child on July 19, 2008.  Mark Lawrence Plocic weighed in at 7 lbs., 4 oz. and measured 21 1/2 inches.  He joins siblings Victoria, James and Vincent.  All are well.

 

 

In Memoriam:

The Immaculata community has just learned of the death of Melita Caridi Kirsch '68, who passed away in April 2007.  Please remember her loved ones in your prayers.

Susan B. Kelly '80 died in late May after a gallant battle with cancer.  She is survived by her parents, her brother Eugene '78, Michael '84 and sisters Maureen and Audrey '82.  Please keep the family in your prayers.

The Immaculata community also recently learned of the death of David Dunsavage ’79.

Immaculata has learned of the death of Toni Ann Dudor ’82.  Please pray for Toni Ann and her family.

Noteworthy news and newsmakers:                                     

Jennifer Carman Keenan '96 owns Darshan Healings, where she facilitates healing sessions, teaches workshops and classes. She also enjoys being assistant manager at Creacon Prema Agni Retreat Centre in Wexford, Ireland.

Mary Wright '99 and Katie Zielinski '99 have created the Friends of Frankie Chemo Cuddle Cap project in memory of Frankie Zatika '99 who recently died of cancer.  They collect knitted, crocheted, sewn, etc., caps to be distributed to cancer patients.  They will soon be branching out to shawls, lap blankets and perhaps even knitted breasts for breast cancer survivors!  With help from other classmates, they will soon be receiving help from larger companies as well.  What they need from the IHS community is yarn, money and crafters.  Their current website is myspace.com/friendsoffrankie.  You don't need a myspace page to view it and they soon hope to upgrade to a real website, but that is what they have for now.  For more information you can email them at cuddlecap01@hotmail.com.

Brian Liscovitz '06 son of Mike Liscovitz '71, competed for the NCAA championship as a gymnast at the University of Illinois.  A few weeks ago, at the Big 10 championship, he posted the highest score on the parallel bars--a personal best 15.250, to help the Illini finish second overall.  In the Courier News, Liscovitz said, "It was really exciting.  It was our last rotation and I needed to help the team secure second place.  It ended being the highest score of the night.  I was really proud that I could accomplish something like that in such a high-pressure situation.  It was nice to hit it for the team---it was a double fulfillment."

The Courier News has reported that Immaculata graduate Dana Leary '04, a senior on the Caldwell women's basketball team, has earned All-Metropolitan Division II second team honors.  The guard is also the program's 10th player to score 1,000 career points and averaged 10.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game this past winter.

Jared Bogda '02 a graduate of Providence College, works in Nestle's Sales Development Program.  His first rotation was in Dallas Texas, where he was promoted to Customer Development Business Analyst in the beverage division and now works in Los Angeles, Ca.

Steven Woltornist '07 a Manhattan College student studying for the priesthood, was recently featured in the NY Post and Start Ledger during Pope Benedict XVI's visit to the U.S.  Steven, along with the entire Woltornist family, attended the Mass celebrated by Pope Benedict XVI at St. Joseph's Seminary at Dunwoodie in Yonkers, NY.

Nicole Singer '05 has been named NJ State President of the Middle States Region of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.

Moravian sophomore pitcher Chris Morrison '06 has been named second team All-Landmark Conference for baseball.  He posted a 5-3 record with a 3.64 ERA.

Tom Novak '03, graduated with a BE in Naval Architecture from SUNY Maritime College and will be working as a naval architect for Viking Yachts in New Gretna, NJ.

Kevin Foley '06,  a golfer for Penn State, helped his team reach the NCAA Championships with an eighth place finish at the Central Regional.  At the Ohio State Scarlet Course, Foley finished 33rd overall.

Jenn Lapicki '07, a softball player, carried her team, the University of Tennessee, into the Knoxville Regional final by going 4 for 4, including a two-run homer and four RBIs.

Jason Cimino '07, a point guard, was named Freshman Athlete of the Year at Washington and Lee.

Jamie Marts '04, is one of ten graduates in the first graduating class of the New Jersey Center for Science, Technology, and Mathematics Education at Kean University.  She graduated Summa Cum Laude and will pursue her Master's degree in Science and Technology.

Sean Mc Keown '07, a pitcher at Marist, will play for the New Jersey Pilots this summer.
